Now 71 - 73 Mustang and Cougar owners finally have a option for upgrading their stock steering system to a modern Power Rack and Pinion steering! This TCP power rack and pinion kit will fit 1971-73 Mustang and Cougar with small block or big block ford engines and is also designed to hook up to the stock steering column with the provided hardware in kit. Kit contains an all new high quality TCP power rack and pinion unit, intermediate steering shaft and universal joints, tie rod adapters, eccentric eliminators and weld-in frame plates. This rack and pinion kit is designed to use your 71 - 73 Mustang stock tie rods with the adapters included in the kit.

TCP's patented line of high performance center-take-off rack and pinions enables correct geometry and a level of positive, direct steering that is not possible with adapted OEM units. Features quick ratio, straightcut gears, requiring only three turns lock-to-lock (standard OEM 4-5/8 turns, Performance OEM 3-3/4 turns). The unique modular design utilizes mounting brackets and centerlinks to adapt to classic Ford/Mercury vehicles including Mustangs and Cougars.
Existing factory mounting locations are used whenever possible to simplify rack installation. Once installed, the rack becomes a rigid crossmember bracing the lower control arm mounts; an improvement over the original bent tubular design. Mounting brackets along with the centerlink are specific to engine type and are used to vary the height of the rack as needed for oil pan clearance.
