Patriot Exhaust Headers, Mid-Length for 64-73 Mustangs with 289 or 302 Small Block Engine, BLACK Hi-Temp Coating

These Patriot Mid-Length Exhaust headers are designed to work with 64 65 66 67 68 69 70 71 72 or 71 Classic Mustangs with Small Block 289 or 302 Ford Engines. These "Clippster" style headers feature a longer primary tube design to allow the primaries to come together at the collector toward the rear of the engine to help with clearances of suspension systems and steering components. They also provide excellent ground clearances when compared to the traditional long tube header designs. This excellent ground clearance makes them perfect for lowered Classic Mustangs as well!
PLEASE NOTE: These headers will NOT clear a stock original-style equalizer bar clutch linkage and WILL require a Cable clutch conversion if you are currently running the stock equalizer bar clutch linkage. If installing in a 65 or 66 Mustang you will need to use the later 1966-1970 Mustang motor mounts which allow the engine to sit approx 1 inch higher than early 65 - EARLY66 Mounts. Will Also work well with Heidts, TCI, or Similar Mustang II Style front suspension conversions!

Important Installation Notes: 

  • Mid-length design for maximum ground clearance
  • Header installation requires the use of the 1965-66 Non-Hi-Po V8 clutch equalizer bar
  • Must use 66 1/2 or later frame brackets (approx. 1" higher than 65 and early 66 styles)
  • Fits with manual transmissions using 85-95 bell housing with cable clutch kits
  • Lakewood bell housings require clearancing for header tube clearances
  • Use recommended C5ZZ16A052E "export brace" if shock mount center to center dimension is less than 33 3/4"
  • Fits TCI, Heidt's, or similar Mustang II style front suspension conversion
  • Fits with Modern Driveline T5 cable clutches and AOD transmissions
  • Will not fit GT40 "P" head
